RECENT SITUATION REPORTS:

- Taylor County is participating in conference calls several times a day regarding the Deepwater Horizon Event. The Taylor County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) continues to receive a number of calls regarding the potential impacts this disaster could have on the county. Presently, the US Coast Guard is the lead federal agency and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is the state's.

RUMOR CONTROL:

- "The Only Oil We Have in Taylor County is Suntan Oil"

- Scallop Season   -   There is no truth to the rumor that a determination has  already been made  to close this year's scallop season for Taylor County. Currently there is no impact to Taylor County from this event. If this changes it will be put out through the news media and the official county website.
